Crocuses in Bloom

Spring is finally here!!!! Took this photograph in the rain, which was cool, because it created some nice water droplets on the flowers. I shot this with a 50mm f/1.4 lens, and a 20mm Kenko Extension Tube. I always have my 50mm lens in my bag, so the extension tubes are a great addition, and are cheaper and more portable than a dedicated macro lens. I don’t do much macro work, so this setup works perfectly for my flower and butterfly shooting needs.

Blanket of White

We received a couple more inches of snow last night, which laid a nice blanket of white over everything this morning, including the Brookside Inn.

The Snow Fairy

Shot this in downtown Frederick a few weeks ago. This nice lady was part of Santa’s procession through the historic district, and was working her magic in trying to get it snow. We’ve had a lot of snow so far this winter, so I guess it worked!

What to do when it’s cold and windy?

What to do? Post a photo from the big snow a week earlier.

It was cold today, which wasn’t so bad by itself. However, the high winds made it miserable to be outside for any length of time, so the camera saw no action today. Instead, I present a photo from last week’s historic mid-atlantic snowstorm – my daughter, trying to outrun a snowball being thrown by her sister. I like this shot because of the way it freezes the fragments of the snowball, creating an interesting effect.

Hopefully, the weather improves a little this week, so I can get out and shoot.

With a busy holiday schedule, I didn’t have time to shoot anything today. Instead, I figured I’d post something from a trip to Washington, DC this past spring. With the gray dreariness of winter, it’s nice to look back at photos from spring and summer.

Hello everyone. I’m starting up another blog site (this one), whose primary purpose will be to display a new photo each day. There are a couple of reasons I’m doing this:

Push myself to be more creative, and photograph something each and every day
Have a blog that is updated more frequently than my other blog (http://photohut.wordpress.com/)
Have a blog that is focused completely on photography

The photos I post in this blog will always be safe for the workplace, as well as any other public place. So, that is about it. Enjoy the blog, and feel free to comment on anything you see here.
